If you are Cisco certification candidate, you are likely already well versed in what is required of you during the CIBT or Cisco Global exam. This test measures your knowledge on networking and has been prepared by Cisco for those wishing to be an IP Consultant, Network Engineer or even an Administrator/Systems Manager. When it comes to taking the exam, you will find that there are a few ways you can go about preparing for it.

One way you can prepare for the CIBT exam is to obtain and read a CIBT study guide or two. There are several good study guides available online at the CIBT site. Many of these also come in print so that you have the option of going to a local library and pulling out the book you need. You might also want to consider using the free PDF files offered by Cisco.

Another way to prep for the CIBT exam is to review any related materials that you may have already worked on. There are several resources you can pull from to review prior material. The most comprehensive of these resources are the Cisco training site and the CCNA website. For example, the former offers a number of sample tests that you can take to gauge your readiness. The latter features a number of sample question papers for you to review and use as a reference.

If you have already purchased Cisco products, it may be in your best interest to review the manufacturer’s own site. This will give you a look at the latest techs that are available as well as any special features that might make them worth your while. You can also find the official CCNA and CCNP books on the internet as well as study guides and manuals that provide you with the tools you need to complete the exam. Additionally, the official CCNA and CCIE books are often accompanied by a series of practice questions designed to hone your skills and prepare you for the real thing.

Before you begin studying, it is important to remember a few ground rules. First, there are two parts to every Cisco Global exam test. The first part is a written examination and the second part is hands on lab testing. Both parts will test your basic knowledge of networking and should be taken seriously. By taking the time to review these two sections you will ensure that you understand every topic that is presented on the exam and that you can easily pass the exams.

When looking at Cisco’s site for resources it is easy to get overwhelmed and feel as if you’re not making any progress. It can seem like there are so many ways to fail. This is why it is critical to know exactly what needs to be done in order to score well on this exam. First you must familiarize yourself with the CCNA and then proceed to Cisco’s official Eolas site. On Cisco’s site they have an extensive amount of information on Eolas routers and how to use them. You will learn about Ethernet switches, IP phones, IP telephones, routing protocols, and how to troubleshoot certain elements of your Cisco equipment.

On Cisco’s official website there is a wealth of information on using the SBS (Service Broker) tools. This includes an eBook on using SBS in conjunction with the other resources described above. Many people fail on the CCNA because they do not fully understand what SBS is and how it can help them pass the exam. The SBS eBook gives you step-by-step instructions on how to set up a laboratory in five minutes or less. In addition, you will learn how to troubleshoot certain problems such as busy signaling, SBS hangs, and EOLs.

On the exam itself there are three sections that you must study. The first two consist of multiple choice questions and answers about networking fundamentals and troubleshooting. The last section of the Cisco Global CCNA Review has a set of multiple answer questions that are much harder than the previous two and will give you an idea of what you need to study if you want to ace the test.
